My children may be well beyond the weaning stage but we are always on the look out for natural snacks for picnics, lunch boxes, car journeys etc. As much as I try, I don’t always have something homemade at hand so it pays to be aware of a small few things that can be sourced amidst the weekly shop.
Piccolo products are marketed as Baby Food however as we learned, the fruit options in particular, are suitable for everyone. We even used them to make pancakes and little bon bons for the kids to snack on.
Piccolo Bon Bons
1 Apple & Apricot Piccolo Pouch
20g Tahini Paste
1 Tsp Maple Syrup
50g Ground Almonds
20g Coconut Flour
20g Chocolate Chips
Combine the wet ingredients together first then add the dry. Mix everything together well. Take walnut sized pieces, roll into bon bons and store in the fridge.
Perfect for big & small hands!
The older and younger children all enjoyed the pouches as snacks. They’re ideal for picnics, snacks on the go, for swirling into porridge, serving on the side with pancakes etc.
‘At Piccolo we are passionate that children should enjoy the healthiest and most nutritious food from the very start of their weaning journey. Our range of 100% organic pouches are inspired by the Mediterranean approach to health and wellbeing, centred around fresh ingredients that have been lovingly prepared and shared with friends and family.’
As Piccolo is primarily a baby food, there are lots of savoury options available. All ingredients are natural and organic, with zero additives, ensuring the pouches are perfect for those days when you need something convenient.
Piccolo, the fastest growing baby food brand in the UK, will be launching in Asda and SuperValu stores across Ireland from July. Disclaimer: I received fruit based Piccolo pouches for the purpose of this review, which is my own honest view.
