Simply Homemade is 6!

Considering the amount of time I spend on this, my little space on the internet, one would assume I await with bated breath and cake for my blog birthday every year. Alas, real life dictates something entirely different and it was only when I was checking a date for something else last night that I realised, yesterday, March 15 was my Blogiversary, my blog birthday.

happy birthday

Yet again, it almost passed me by! It is now 6 years since the inception of Simply Homemade. As I am sure is the case with many people who start a blog,  I had no plan when I started. Six years on I still don’t! I fear if I were to start making blog plans my enthusiasm would wane somewhat, as it is and how I run it feels somewhat organic. In all honesty, I had no idea if I would still be blogging six weeks from the start, never mind six years.

For those of you who may not be aware, when I started Simply Homemade it was initially a  food blog. It has evolved & become so much more, certainly to me anyway and I like to think that it’s evolution melded naturally. It has always reflected where I am in my life and I hope it will always remain true to that.

I love my blog, I genuinely do love it. Contrary to popular belief, the majority of us who blog do not make any money from it and that is not why we blog. It really is a labour of love. For me, my blog has reignited a love of writing, it is bringing me out of my comfort zone. There was a time I would write things, just to process my thoughts, but I’d never publish them. Now I hit publish! I am constantly learning from my peers, constantly reading, always gaining new knowledge. I am focusing more on creating my own recipes, what you see here in terms of food is what you will see in my kitchen. The food world spins hard and fast, there is always so much to learn and so much to discover.

If there is anything you would like to see on the blog; any particular recipes, anything at all that you would like to see me cover, please get in touch and I will do my very best to accommodate your request.

I cannot thank you all enough for reading, commenting, liking, following; for your wonderful support, feedback, kindness. If I enjoy something there’s a good chance I’ll stick with it regardless but having all of you here makes such a difference. I am so very grateful & do not take any of it for granted.

Thank you, thank you, thank you

  2. Happy Birthday Nicola! 6 years is a big achievement. Yours is one of my favourite blogs too x

    1. Thank you and likewise! I’m still thinking about your recipe from yesterday, I’ve never thought of putting roast chickpeas together with hummus….that is on my must have very soon list.

      1. Thanks Nicola 🙂 Yes, you would think it’d be chickpea overload but they are actually really nice together. I also eat hummus with falafel so I suppose that’s the same thing.
