What Caught My Eye

What Caught My Eye This Week?

It’s been a while but I am bringing ‘What Caught My Eye?’ back, although it may well be very sporadic in its presence! I’m hoping I’ll have more time for my little internet space now as the evenings get shorter and the children are back in school. Autumn has arrived and I love it, the colours of the season are astounding and never fail to cheer the soul.

I have fallen in love with Emily’s house, she was inspired by a Czech Granny to whip out her paintbrush and adorn her house in the most glorious floral pattern. It looks amazing, so welcoming. Have a look, isn’t it wonderful?

I previously reviewed Andrea Mara’s debut novel, The Other Side of the Wall. If you haven’t yet read it, her ten-year-old has told her to publish the first chapter, here,  on her blog to encourage you!

Have you ever wondered What’s Really in a Jar of Peanut Butter? Have a read!

I love this feature on The Irish Seaside Town with a Closely Guarded Secret, it’s great to read such a glowing report on my home county.

Karen Geraghty is without a doubt one of the kindest people I am fortunate enough to count as a friend. The queen of Snapchat, she has been honoring female chefs weekly in her series Woman Crush Wednesday for three years now and when she reached the 100th episode launched a go fund me to release a Woman Crush Wednesday Cookbook where the proceeds would go to charity. To quote Karen – ” It’s a dream of mine to compile the first 100 of these Woman Crush Wednesday recipes and Love Stories into a book with proceeds going to a charity benefiting women! The chosen charity which will receive these funds is Women Chefs & Restaurateurs (WCR) Scholarship Program. Each year, WCR awards unique learning opportunities for women seeking culinary training and continuing education in the foodie world. All of the proceeds from the sale of the  Woman Crush Wednesday cookbook will go to this wonderful charity. But I need your help to get this book printed so that I can sell them to then raise money for the WCR Scholarship Program. This has the potential to change a woman’s life by providing culinary training. As well, the aim of the book is to bring awareness to the importance of women in the culinary world through the LOVE stories of all 100 honorees (who come from all over the globe).”
If you would like to help Karen in her endeavor, head over to her Go Fund Me page now!

It’s festival time in Wexford, there is always such a buzz at this time of year. The town comes alive. Check out what’s happening in line with the Opera Festival in the Wexford Fringe Guide.

I simply have to bring you back to Emily now as she has launched the 2019 Book of Days. I absolutely adore mine, it has had mixed uses over the years, and I wouldn’t be without it. Even if you never write in it, Emily’s art will bring a smile to your face. (I have actually framed the images and hung them up!) Order your copy here.

That’s it for this week. I might be back next week, there’s no guarantee, but you can’t fault my honesty! In the meantime, catch up with me on  FacebookTwitter &  Instagram. Have a lovely Sunday.
