10 Of My Favourite Foods & Drinks

I don’t think it would be possible to list all of my favourite foods and drinks, I could write about the different tastes I like all day, I’ve no doubt every time I think I’d have the list finished I would think of something else! I have created this short list however, I’m not sure it says much about me as such, other than I like eating and drinking!!!

Coffee – I love coffee, I used to have at least three big buckets mugs of it before breakfast, really not good for you and I wouldn’t recommend it, I’ve cut back to 3-4 a day.

Cake is is a must!!
Cake is optional……coffee is a must!!

Dark Chocolate – Preferably Green & Blacks, though I did have some Iswari Raw Chocolate recently, it was heavenly. Dark chocolate is a relatively new favourite for me, I used to prefer milk chocolate but it holds no appeal for me anymore.

Nuts – I love nuts, I’m not sure I have a favourite, I don’t think there are any I dislike…..pecans on my porridge, cashews with my stir fry, walnuts combined with coffee, brazil nuts coated with chocolate, almonds with everything!!

Coffee & Walnuts combined-yum!

Red Wine – I do enjoy a glass of red wine, I really do……

Mince Pies – They are Christmas, the festive season begins when I make the mincemeat, that first mince pie of the season is an occasion in itself. I absolutely love them!!

Scallops – Cooked simply, in garlic butter, with a little green salad on top of  fabulous sourdough bread……my mouth is watering as I type…..

Smoked Salmon – I do enjoy a nice piece of smoked salmon, and it’s so versatile, wonderful paired with scrambled egg, delicious on an open sandwich, no seafood platter is complete without it.

Goats Cheese – If I had to choose a favourite cheese, it would be Goats Cheese, it’s so delicious. If you are ever in Wexford, treat yourself to a meal in Warren Gillen’s Cistín Eile, he serves the best Goats Cheese dish I have ever tasted, it’s divine.

Soda Bread –  Still warm from the oven with real Irish butter and Follain No Added Sugar strawberry jam, such a simple pleasure, real comfort food.

Tia Maria – I haven’t had it in years, but it is lovely, it also happens to be what I had in my glass the first time I met my Mr. Simply Homemade, so worthy of a mention!!

So there you have it, 10 of my favourites, what do you think? Do love/hate any of these food or drinks?

  1. I am in agreement with all of the above other than the scallops 🙂 – I love Tia Maria with milk and mince pies are definitely a must at Christmas, fresh from the oven with cream 🙂 Yummy!

  2. 100% with you on everything but the goat cheese. I try, I really do, but it has a vile aftertaste every time. I think I must have some sort of biological incompatibility with it, the way some people say coriander leaf (cilantro) tastes of soap.

  3. Hehe i love your “cake is optional…coffee is a must!” I also drink way too much of the stuff! I’m a big of nuts and dark chocolate too. 🙂

  4. I have to say that is a very good list, mine would be cake, chocolate, jellies, popcorn… all the bad stuff! I do love soda bread though, especially the one with the raisins.
Thanks for linking up to #linkalist

    1. I don’t know why I hadn’t replied to your comment before now! Sincere apologies!!
Soda bread with raisins…yum!! My children won’t eat it though…the feckers 😉 I must confess I’m not a fan of jellies, I watched a programme with my 10 year old on how they’re made, I won’t shre it with you; everyone needs a guilty pleasure 😉
