Apple, Blackberry & Pear Crumble

While out for a walk this morning, I couldn’t resist picking some lovely blackberries from the hedgerows. I had some apples and pears in the fruit bowl, so how better to use them than in a crumble!
200g Blackberries
200g Peeled & chopped Apple
200g Peeled & chopped Pear
1 Tablespoon Water
1 Tablespoon Caster Sugar
1 Tablespoon plain flour
For the crumble
150g Flour
75g Brown Sugar
75g Butter, cubed
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 Tablespoon Oats
* Pre-heat the oven to 180C
* Wash & prepare the fruit
* Place the apples & pears in a saucepan with the water and sugar, bring to the boil & simmer for      approximately 5 minutes, until the fruit is soft.
* Remove from the heat & stir in the blackberries and the flour. Transfer to a baking dish
* Prepare the crumble topping by rubbing the butter into the flour, sugar and cinnamon, until the mix resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
* Stir in the oats and scatter the mixture over the fruit.
* Bake for 30-40 minutes.
Fruit crumbles are a must in Autumn, they are so comforting at any time of day, not just simply as a dessert. There’s nothing nicer than curling up in the sofa, a warm bowl of fruit crumble with lashings of custard and your favourite movie on the TV! Now obviously with three children that scenario is simply a fantasy in my mind but perhaps for you…… can be a reality 🙂
