Time Out at Tinakilly

Mr Simply Homemade & I had the opportunity to go away for a night. This is not something that happens very often, so we were gone!

What did we want from this mini break?

Simply put, the opportunity to relax and unwind, with a little bit of luxury and lots of peace and quiet!

We very quickly decided on Tinakilly House in Wicklow, it’s somewhere I’ve wanted to go for some time. Knowing how fond Mr. S/h is of a sea view, I booked us into a Junior Suite with just that.

Once you drive up the sweeping drive to Tinakilly House, you have entered another world, the imposing house with it’s lush green surroundings are breathtaking. 007

Our suite was beautiful; large, comfortable and had the most amazing, and very calming sea view. For the first time in a long time, I could hear myself think, something I’m sure many parents will understand.011

The décor in Tinakilly House is very much in keeping with the age of this fabulous Victorian mansion and any modernisation has been done very sympathetically.

The bar is cosy and inviting and one would quite easily spend a relaxed evening, unwinding here. After a drink (or two) we went for a stroll around the beautiful and extremely well maintained gardens. There is an abundance of seating areas, where you can take in the amazing sea views or relax in a pod with afternoon tea or light refreshment from the bar.

We had dinner in the restaurant that night, the food was delicious, Mr S/H was particularly impressed with his Wicklow Lamb, describing it as melt in the mouth.

Breakfast the following morning ,was again, faultless, with a well stocked buffet and a good choice of options, particularly, if like me, you’re not a full Irish kinda gal 😉

We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tinakilly House, the staff we encountered were all very friendly & welcoming. It is the perfect location if your after a little bit peace and tranquillity and a break of the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

My only gripe……one night wasn’t enough!

*I was not paid or asked by Tinakilly House to write this piece, I am simply sharing my thoughts on what was an enjoyable stay with them.
