Simply Homemade is 4!

You may recall the 15th of March as it was Mother’s Day, however, it was also the day that Simply Homemade turned 4 years old. Now I’ve said that, I have no doubt you are wondering to yourself; really?

Happy  Blogiversary!

Yes, it is, Simply Homemade was born in 2011, starting slowly, it was a means of sharing recipes initially, then I discovered how much I enjoyed it, it was somewhere I could get lost in thought and share little tales of family life as well as the food we eat.

Then came big changes in our home and Simply Homemade was put on the back burner for almost two years, which is a long time in blog land, however I just couldn’t commit to it. My little Mini Chef, Abbie, who I am sure you’re all familiar with, arrived in March 2012. She suffered dreadfully from reflux, so as you can imagine, the blog was the last thing on my mind. And then, almost 11 months later Harry, my Mini Baker arrived. It’s fair to say life was hectic for a while, I didn’t have a minute.

As time passed however, I came to miss the blog and decided, for my own sanity as well as anything, to try and give it a bit more time again. In 2014 I was warmly welcomed by the Irish Parenting Bloggers group and I rediscovered the enjoyment I get from blogging! The icing on the cake has been making the finalist list in the Glenisk Best Homespun Blog category in the Irish Parenting Blog Awards 2015.

March proved to be quite a busy month, which is why I put off the ‘blogiversary’ celebrations until now, I wanted to celebrate Simply Homemade’s 4th birthday with a little competition.

I mentioned previously how I was initially inspired to start a blog after listening to Lilly Higgins speak on Today Fm. So, to celebrate my 4th year blogging I am delighted to be giving you the chance to win a copy of Lilly’s second and rather lovely book, Lilly Higgins’ Dream Deli. I love Lilly’s style of cooking, I continue to bake many scrumptious delights from her first book Make Bake Love, and have cooked a number of dishes from Dream Deli, with many more on my ‘to cook’ list.

To be in with a chance of winning Lilly’s Dream Deli, all you have to do is like Simply Homemade on facebook  and leave a comment below.

This competition is open to residents of Ireland and closes on the 10th May 2015.

Best of luck!
