This is the Girl

This is the girl who arrived early one sunny Spring Saturday; captured our hearts, stole our breath.

This is the girl who was perfect & small, the smallest of all her brothers and sisters.

This is the girl who kept us awake night after night, watching The Hive and Mickey Mouse, because that’s what you do.

This is the girl who has been ever so brave and ever so strong.

This is the girl who loves to sing and dance to all the nursery rhymes, ‘Ondon Fridge is falling down’

This is the girl who assists her Mama in the kitchen, baking cookies and scones and bread.

This is the girl who idolises her sister and has declared her, her very best friend.

This is the girl who lines up the kitchen chairs, places her teddies and dolls on them and calls it her train.

This is the girl who looks out for her little brother and says to him assuringly, ‘It’s ok Harry, I’m here’

This is the girl who loves teddies, all the teddies and cannot leave the house without one.

This is the girl who loves parties and playgrounds, the beach and the boats.

This is the girl who gives me a kiss and leaves it ‘just there’ for me to touch.

This is the girl who believes without a shadow of doubt that she is a real life fairy.

This is the girl who asks in her soft voice, full of concern,  ‘Are you happy Mama?’

This is the girl who gives me a hug, because she loves hugs and Mama loves hugs.

This is the girl who has been by my side for 3 years, 5 months and 1 week.

This is the girl who is loosening the strings and taking first steps.

This is the girl who starts playschool in a couple of days; leaving my side for the first ever time.

  1. awww how cute. It can be hard leaving them however the benefits are so amazing. She will learn so much at play school. It will be hard to start with however it gets easier when you see how much she will be loving it xx

    1. Thank you Lisa ) She is very ready, so excited, she’s such a little chatter box in comparison to Harry, I’ll miss her but the one on one time with him will be just what he needs and she will have a ball…I hope!

    That is so sweet. Little miss Abbie will have a fabulous time at Playschool and Harry Cuddlemonster will love having his mama all to himself for those few hours xx

  3. Lovely post. So nice to look at what they’ve achieved and what they’re going on to do. Nursery/pre-school is brilliant for them, especially if they’ve not been to it before. I’m amazed by how many people don’t put their children in at least in the year before school!
