What Caught My Eye

What Caught My Eye #1

Each week I will bring you a selection of things that caught my eye during the previous week. This will be a compilation of the things that I have genuinely watched or read online. What can you expect? Blogs, papers, magazines, vlogs, recipes, crafts…the lot.
So what are you waiting for? Grab a cuppa and join me for what caught my eye this week!

2016 was a year with many twists, turns and shocking moments, however out of the ashes come the mighty and in Monday’s Irish Examiner Gwen Loughman shared with us Eight Irish Heroes who Stood out in 2016.

I first heard of the Simple Things magazine through Three Sons Later, I love browsing their website and receiving their newsletter. This recipe for Coffee, Walnut & Maple Porridge sounds divine and right up my street.

Karen over at Yankee Doodle Paddy is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and as part of that gets to watch movies and vote for them in the Screen Actors Guild Awards. She and her hubby became ‘Cuppa Critics’ on snapchat (u/n Blissbakery) to tell us about the 11 movies they watched but fear not, if you missed that, Karen compiled this post here too. There are some real gems in there, I’ll definitely be watching some of these.

A short film by Emmet Kirwan, in which he asks the country to stand ‘in awe of all mná’,  went viral this week. Heartbreak shows the pressures on young women in Ireland today. It really is such a powerful piece. If you haven’t seen it, here it is.

If you have read previous posts, you will know I am on a journey to become more body positive, so it’s important to avoid the damaging media articles which are ten a penny this time of year and focus instead on ones such as 12 Body Positive Quotes to Remember this Weekend – or always!

Finally, I want to share a photo from my week. Mr. Simply Homemade had things to do in town the other day, so I took the opportunity to go for a walk somewhere different. I took photos, as you do. Wexford really is beautiful.
