Moments from May

This is the first in a new series of posts which will be published at the end of each month, a round-up of what’s been happening in the Simply Homemade Camp.

Moments from.....with The Simply

May began with a special occasion, my nephew had his communion. My sister asked me to make cakes for the big day,  you can check out the selection and find a very simple recipe for a tasty occasion cake here.

Without doubt the highlight of the month was having Afternoon Tea with Emily from The Nest and Danielle from Lilliwhite Rose, it was such a lovely afternoon, the time flew by way too quickly.

My birthday was in May too, having to make my own cake wasn’t too much of a chore, I chose something nice and healthy, with delicious Wexford strawberries and homemade lemon curd.

The big news of the month was the arrival of this little space here, The Simply Homemade Mum, right up to the moment I made this blog public I wasn’t sure should I have just made it a page on Simply Homemade, but I think I’ve done the right thing in having a ‘sister blog’ as I call it. I really want to keep Simply Homemade as it is and not deviate too much from its main focus which is family food, whereas with this little space now I can deviate as much as I like! 😉 Caoimhe, my arty 10-year-old designed the header image, which I am very happy to display.

The whole country was on tenterhooks as we approached the 22nd of May, it was imperative  that the country would vote yes  in the marriage equality referendum and they did, what a wonderful, joyous day for Ireland that could leave you feeling nothing other than pride in this country of ours.

Mr. Simply Homemade & I went for coffee with our littlest people to a beautiful little restaurant called Button & Spoon, it was delicious, well worth a visit if you’re in the sunny south-east.

I spent a lovely afternoon in the garden with my fairy girl Abbie, she got me thinking to how differently we see things in comparison to our children, we need to step back and look through the eyes of a child once in a while.

Looking back May was certainly quite a busy month and the time is simply flying by. How was May for you?
