Festive Musings

Christmas is Well & Truly on it’s Way……

………and I have a lovely treat for a lucky winner….read on!!!

The decorations are up, the food preparation is under way, the advent calendar is filled ready to start the countdown and the children’s excitement is growing at a rate of knots!

It’s such a busy time, but I wouldn’t change any of it, every weekend is filled with activities whether it’s practice bakes of Santa’s cookies, festive get togethers, making the annual visit to see Santa and ensuring we’re all on the nice list or simply going out to see christmas lights and warming up with a lovely hot chocolate when we get home again.

It’s important to relax too and we do that with christmas stories by the twinkling lights of the christmas tree and  10727335_1558600627706279_125364807_nmovies, as a family, we all love christmas movies and snacks of course!! I often rustle up some spiced chickpeas, they’re very simple, preheat your oven to 200C, drain and rinse a can of chickpeas, toss in a tablespoon of olive and spices of  your choice, tip onto a baking tray and bake for 45 minutes.

Netflix Stream Team

The other day, Harry pointed to the tv and requested Dickey, that’s Mickey Mouse to you and me! He was after The mmThree Musketeers on Netflix, I’ve lost count of the number of times he’s watched it, he loves Mickey Mouse. Anyway, it was a wet, miserable day so I told him he could watch his beloved Dickey. When I turned on the Apple Tv and he saw Mickey’s Twice Upon A Christmas, he was beside himself with excitement, both himself and Abbie were completely entranced with Daisy & Minnie ice skating, Huey, Duey & Louie trying to get off of Santa’s Naughty List, my favourite, Max trying to impress a girl while his Dad Goofy is just that, goofy;  and poor Pluto running away from home only to end up at the North Pole after he made a bit of a mess of the Christmas decorations!

There are lots of lovely christmas movies on Netflix at the moment including:

Abbie particularly enjoyed O Christmas Tree, it’s a lovely little tale for younger viewers.

As it is the season of goodwill, a time to give and all that, Netflix have very kindly given me a wonderful prize for one of you, my lovely followers.

  1. Can’t wait to try some of ur Christmas recipes. The kids are all excited about making Santa’s cookies this yr just not sure if their as excited as daddy who’ll be our in-house taster. Christmas movie time starts 1st weekend in Dec with miracle on 34th street, elf and the Santa Claus all on the list 😊😁🎄🎄🎄🎄

    1. The Daddy’s will all be put on diets after Christmas Caroline. The Simply Homemade Daddy is sampling chocolate biscuit puddings this weekend, on top of cookies during the week lol 😀
Miracle on 34th St is lovely, though my favourite as a child was Santa Claus the Movie, was delighted to get a copy of it for my children a couple of years ago 🙂

  2. I am always on the lookout for a perfect Christmas Eve film – for after the kids go to bed – it’s hard to find something seasonal but not too cheesy and not one we’ve seen a hundred times!
Anyway, I’d love to win the netflix subscription so please include me!

      1. It is terrible. I even wrote a post about it last year! Meanwhile, I am still in your lovely blog, looking for bread recipes. I’ve never made bread in my life but I’m feeling inspired…

        1. If you’re going to bake bread, start with soda, it’s the simplest and so rewarding, then move on to a nice brown loaf with buttermilk, foolproof, mix it together & bung it in a tin, then move on to the big boy of bread, yeast loaves, time consuming admittedly but the satisfaction from making your own is worth it!

          1. Definitely starting with soda if I do it – have emailed a link to your soda recipe to myself so I can print it out. I doubt I’d ever get to anything more complicated but would be delighted to even make soda!

  3. This would be the only Christmas present my gang would want. We’d have pressure sores watching movies if we won this fab prize.
BTW you do have a beautiful blog.
