Today I’d like to welcome my friend Niamh, who is sharing the playlist of her life, to the blog. We have met Niamh here before when she shared some memories and more recently she was over on Office Mum discussing life as a working Mum; Niamh is a nurse in a busy Paediatric Emergency Department
Crazy World – Aslan
I was a scout and I reckon one of the leaders was a huge Aslan fan. This song was played on every weekend and summer camp away. Hearing this song brings back many many happy memories of campfire dinners and pitching tents in the sunshine and rain.
Luke Kelly – Scorn not his Simplicity
I had a mentally and physically disabled brother and my mum loved this song. She loved the lyrics. This song reminds me of her.
Alannis Morissette – Ironic
Ah, teenage angst. Many’s the night that I spent screaming my lungs out to this when I felt like the world was against me. I’m sure my folks were delighted!!
Maniac 2000 – Mark McCabe
What teenager of the late 90’s and early 00’s didn’t spend many Friday nights at the local teenage disco screaming their heads off to this classic?? I know I did. Hearing this song always transports me back to the summer of 2001 – I was 16 and loving life. No responsibilities. It was just the best fun.
Gotye – Somebody (that I used to know)
This song was number 1 the week my little boy was born and also happened to be playing in the room when I gave birth. It’s a reminder of such a huge momentous time of my life.
Bruno Mars – Just the Way You Are
This is the song that sums up me and my fiancée’s relationship. He is forever saying this to me.
Steps – 5678
I’ll admit it. I’m a huge fan of cheesy pop. I’m so excited for March 10th when the tickets go on sale for their 20th-anniversary tour. I’m sooo gonna be there!
Thank you for joining in Niamh, there are some great songs on your playlist and lovely memories. I adore that Bruno Mars song, so beautiful and a lovely reflection on your relationship.
