October 11th, last Wednesday, was International Day of the Girl Child so today it’s What Women Caught My Eye!
Since 2012, 11 October has been marked as the International Day of the Girl. The day aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls face, while promoting girls’ empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights – un.org
The first piece I want to share is so very eloquently put, A Wish For The Girl Child. It echoes everything we all want for our girls, our children.
What do you do When Your Kids Need More than You can Give? A beautifully written post, my heart ached for this brave lady.
I loved this, The Sweet Spot, this I am adopting for this is a mistake I’ve made for a very long time. While this may be a lighthearted piece, the message is important; self-care!
I really liked this, 23 Feminist Quotes. My favourite is’; “Courage, sacrifice, determination, commitment, toughness, heart, talent, guts. That’s what little girls are made of.” ― Bethany Hamilton
Liberty is celebrating eighteen months of blogging with a lovely post, which I just love the title of, Imperfect but Lovely, mental health and celebrations are the topics of conversation in a relatable fashion.
Karen at Yankee Doodle Paddy regularly celebrates wonderful female chefs in her series, Woman Crush Wednesday. Have a look at the long list of fabulous ladies she has honored and perhaps recreate a delicious recipe too!
I am genuinely in awe of women who work outside the home as well as running a household with their partners, and I don’t want that to sound patronising. I get to the end of the day as a stay at home parent, mentally listing the tasks I failed to get done, thinking of other women and wondering, How Does She Do It?
Finally, I was googling something entirely different (Autumn crafts to be precise!) when I came across a wonderful piece about a very special lady who devoted her life to caring for Mothers and babies. It is lovely, have a read and warm your toasty heart.
